Important Information about DOD/Military Registration for SOMSA 2017
The 2017 Special Operations Medicine Scientific Assembly (SOMSA) is an independently SOMA-hosted event. By registering for annual training at SOMSA as a Military Medic or Current DoD Employee, you will receive continuing education credits (up to 36.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits for Physicians, application has also been made through CAPCE for non-physician credits), primary access to presentations, lectures, and SOMSA events while being granted free access to the SOMSA Exhibition Hall.
Military and DoD personnel must follow the policy for attending a Non-DoD-Hosted event and are encouraged to keep individual costs below $3,000. (IAW DoD Conference Guidelines, Version 4.0 dated 26 June 16, "For conferences estimated to cost less than $3,000 per attendee and less than $600 per day per civilian employee or military member, and for no-cost conferences, approval authority is delegated to supervisors with normal TDY/TAD approval authority, consistent with organizational guidelines.")
SOMA remains committed to improving the survival and reducing the suffering of those that serve in harm's way through the continuous advancement of SOF medicine and will continue to pursue options that will allow as many military and DOD personnel to attend SOMSA as possible.
